Daily Puzzle Shows the Wrong Date

If the daily puzzle doesn't match the date you expect, it's almost always a time zone issue. Here's how Lamplit determines "today."

How Lamplit Picks Today's Puzzle

The daily puzzle is selected based on your device's local date. Lamplit reads the current calendar date from your iPhone's clock settings and serves the puzzle assigned to that date.

This means:

  • If you're traveling across time zones, the daily puzzle follows your device clock

  • If your device clock is set incorrectly, the daily puzzle will reflect the wrong date

Common Causes

You recently traveled to a different time zone

Your device may still be adjusting, especially if "Set Automatically" is turned off. Go to Settings > General > Date & Time and make sure "Set Automatically" is enabled.

Your device date is set manually

If you've set your date or time manually (for any reason), the daily puzzle will reflect whatever date your device thinks it is. Switch back to automatic to sync with the correct date.

It's just after midnight

If you see "yesterday's" puzzle shortly after midnight, close and reopen the app. The daily puzzle refreshes on app launch based on the current date.

Fixing the Issue

  1. Open Settings > General > Date & Time on your iPhone

  2. Turn on "Set Automatically"

  3. Force-quit Lamplit and reopen it

The daily puzzle should now match your actual local date.

Does This Affect My Streak?

Your streak is tracked by calendar date. If your device date was wrong when you completed a puzzle, the completion is recorded for that (incorrect) date. Once your date is corrected, the streak should resume normally from the current date.

If you lost a streak day due to a date issue, a streak shield (if available) will be offered the next time you open the app.
