Puzzle Won't Load or App Crashes

If Lamplit crashes, freezes, or a puzzle won't load, here are the steps to get back up and running.

Quick Fixes

Try these in order. Most issues are resolved by the first two steps.

1. Force-quit and reopen Lamplit

Swipe up from the bottom of the screen (or double-tap the Home button), find Lamplit in the app switcher, and swipe it away. Then reopen the app.

2. Check for app updates

Open the App Store, tap your profile icon, and scroll down to see if a Lamplit update is available. Puzzle loading issues are often fixed in the latest release.

3. Restart your device

A full restart clears temporary system issues that can affect any app.

4. Check your iOS version

Lamplit requires iOS 17.0 or later. Go to Settings > General > Software Update to verify you're running a supported version.

5. Reinstall Lamplit

If none of the above helps:

  1. Delete Lamplit from your device

  2. Re-download it from the App Store

  3. Open the app and tap Restore Purchases in Settings to recover your packs and unlock

Your daily puzzle history and streak will be preserved through your device backup. Puzzle progress saved locally (in-progress answers) may be lost on reinstall.

What You Won't Lose

  • Purchases — the one-time unlock and puzzle packs are tied to your Apple ID, not your device. Restore them anytime.

  • Game Center data — achievements and leaderboard entries are stored in Game Center.

What You Might Lose

  • In-progress puzzle answers — saved locally on the device

  • Hint balance — consumable tokens are stored locally and cannot be restored

  • Streak shield balance — also stored locally
